A clue, or two, for you...

So here I am on my final day. Tomorrow is Christmas Eve, the busiest time of the year in the North Pole. We'll all be rushing around fitting together all the last minute toys, buying sacks of potatoes for the naughty children (Eh William?) and frantically wrapping the presents so that they're all ready for Santa to deliver.

Every year, in the hustle and bustle, at least one elf accidentally gets wrapped up in paper and put on the present pile. Its was especially bad last year when 6 elves got all trapped and we had to unload the sleigh 3 times before we found them.

Now every elf is given a special bleeper which they can activate if they accidentally get wrapped up. It plays the song Happy Birthday to you, very loudly, so that you can hear it above all the jolly Christmas music.

As I've had such a good time I thought I would leave you all a little something to remember me by. So I've written some clues which you need to follow in order to find it.

The first one is here:

Where could it be, do you suppose?
Where Mummy warms her mistle-Toes!
(If you need a clue, I’ll tell you,
They’re very cosy, and look like Posy)

Have fun finding it.
Do have a fantastic Christmas and, you never know, I might see you around.

Love,

He's snow angel...

Tabby thank you for your lovely letter. My head is much better now, had a bit of headache this morning, but ate some elf doughnuts to cheer myself up.  I do like the Elf hats, and have been making them for Tommy Tinsel-Nose and Belinda Bauble-Belly, who both liked them very much too!

I'm not sure if I will be visiting you next year, as Santa doesn't usually send out our assignments until November.  I hope so though, as I've had such fun with you this year!  I will miss you too, but I'm still around for a couple of days, and then after that it will be Christmas, and you'll be too busy playing with your new toys to think about little old me!

William, what can I say?  After some lovely behaviour at the restaurant earlier today, you have been a bit of pickle this evening haven't you?  Remember, I will be writing my final report to Santa Claus tomorrow, so if you don't want  to be eating mash for the whole of January, then you'd better watch your p's and q's!

I thought I'd leave you with a little message tonight, and thought a letter or using the blackboard would be a bit boring, and wanted to do something a bit more fun.  And what's more fun than SNOW ANGELS!

Whee!

It's quite a good angel, but I did get very snowy!

Not bad!

I did write you a message...

but the cats messed it up!

Who's got a snowy chin?

Never mind,  I've got lots of fun and games planned for you tomorrow!

So be good and keep those rooms tidy!

Elf and Safety Inspection

As you know, my job here is to keep an eye on you two, make sure that you are being good, and to report back to Santa Claus, so that he knows whether you should be or the naughty or the nice list.  But as Christmas draws closer, I have another job to do too, and that is to make sure that everything is safe for when Santa comes, because he has such an important job to do, and we can't risk him getting hurt!  This part of my job is called the Christmas Elf and Safety Inspection.

So tonight I was going about my business, making checks on the things on my list:
-Roof strong enough for magical reindeer to land - check
-Chimney wide enough for for Santa's tummy to fit down - check
-Bedrooms tidy enough for Christmas visits - hmmm, just about, take care to not let them get any messier!
-Baubles firmly attached to the Christmas tree...

Hmmm... not sure about that apple bauble..

Ouch!

I think I need some help!  Thank goodness these kind Barbies were here to take me off to the hospital!

Don't worry, I'm alright!  I might have a headache in the morning though!  Maybe you could leave me a little note to cheer me up!

What an eventful night, I'm off for a little sleep now,

Love and hugs

Winter Wonderland

Yesterday I overheard Mummy talking about Tabby going ice skating for her birthday and I have to say I was most jealous. I love ice skating, but being away from home means that there's very little chance for me to do any winter sports. Not on this wet and windy island anyway!
So I started talking to some of the Christmas Tree decorations. They're all extremely chatty once you get them talking and very social. There's nothing they like more than just hanging around! Anyway they suggested I recreate my own winter wonderland on the dining room table. What a great idea, I thought.
So two snowmen, a deer and me set about making a nice snowy landscape. I couldn't find anything to make skates but I was able to knock together a decent pair of skis. What do you think?

We all had a great time even rolling snowballs and having snowball fights. Although I have to say that polystyrene snowballs aren't quite as soft as real ones.

Unfortunately it didn't last too long. Someone kept stealing our snowballs! Can you guess who it was?
The CATS!

They seem to think the snowballs were their toys. Still they're having fun too. So everyone had a good time.

See you tomorrow.

What a cat-astrophe!

Oh dear, what an eventful evening I've had!  I was minding my own business in the kitchen, trying to decide whether or not to try my hand at a bit more cooking, when I spotted something out of the corner of my eye! I wasn't sure exactly what it was, but, since it had a picture of Santa on it, I thought that it might be a secret sign that it was a magical shortcut to the North Pole!  I thought I'd try it out!

I'll just take a peek inside...

Well, it took me quite some time to climb up to the top, and whilst I was having a peep over the edge, all of a sudden, I lost my balance and fell ears first into it!  Now here was I, expecting to slide and swirl back off to the North Pole on a magical adventure, but instead I landed with a big THUMP on my bottom! Rather bruised it is now!  And that wasn't the worst of it, either, because it was too tall for me to get out!  I was trapped!  What was I going to do?

Uh-Oh! Help!

Well, you'll never guess who came to my rescue!  Posy and Poppet!  All this time, I've been thinking that they are completely useless, and no good to anyone, but it turns out they do have their uses after all!

Free at last!  Please don't eat me!

I feel a bit guilty now for pushing that photo frame off the windowsill, so that Mummy would think it was the cats and tell them off!  To say thank-you, I'll see if I can get Santa to leave something in their stockings after all!

I'm off now to head back to the North Pole and sit on a pile of snow to try to ease my sore behind, it's as red as Rudolf's nose!

Over and out,

Report number 2

As per Santa's instructions...

This week has been the most challenging week since my arrival in the Monk household by far.

William has earned one potato for messing around on Saturday, and was very close to earning another on Monday, but just about managed to escape it.  Luckily he has been quite well behaved today, but he needs to remember to do what he is asked on the first time of asking, if he wants to make sure not to get more potatoes by Christmas.

Tabby has been very well behaved, and I'm glad to see that she has tidied her room up - I was worried that she was letting it get rather too messy.  She must remember to clean poor Fluffy-Cookie out before the weekend though.

End of weekly report number 2

P.S Tabby, thank you for the lovely Elf-hat snacks that you left me.  I scoffed them all up!  We don't have those at the North Pole, so thank you for leaving me the recipe, I look forward to making those for Tommy Tinsel-Nose and Belinda Bauble-Belly, I'm sure they will love them too.

Yummy, yummy in my tummy

Don't worry about me leaving you at Christmas, Tabby.  Whilst I will have to go off and do other jobs at other children's houses, remember that I'm magical, and I can always make time to come back and see you.  You won't see me, of course, but I will be there!

Anyway, must go now,

Home elf-anomics

William, you've been pushing your luck a bit again today, haven't you?  I haven't awarded you another potato...yet...because I've seen all the lovely presents Santa has got ready for you, and I really want you to enjoy them.  But be on your best behaviour tomorrow, because one bit of naughtiness, and another potato it will be, no more chances...

Tee hee, no-one will find me in here!
Tabby well done for your lovely singing today at the church, unbeknownst to Daddy, I hitched a ride in his coat pocket and came along to enjoy the show, it was really Christmassy, and I loved my mince pie at the end.  Now that all your singing shows are over, maybe you will have time to concentrate on tidying your bedroom.  Oh I do hope so!

So what else have I been up to today?  Well, whilst I've been visiting here with you, I've been eating human food, rather than elf food.  It's kinda nice (I particularly liked that chocolate pillow cereal, once I realised I was meant to eat it rather than sleep on it!), but I've been missing some of my old favourites.

Twinkling tinsel - these are delicious!

So today I did a bit of cooking, or home elf-anomics as we call it at the North Pole.  I made yummy elf doughnuts.  I've left some out on the table for you to eat, see if you can guess how I made them!

Don't forget to brush your teeth afterwards...

Baubles and jingle bells,

Disco Elf-ferno

It was lovely to see William being much better behaved today. Well done William!

Imagine my surprise this evening when I take a walk round the house and find that Tabby and William have left a group of new friends for me to play with.

They were much more friendly than last nights robot. However we were all a bit shy. The baby hamsters especially so but luckily the Transformers know how to make everyone feel at ease. They suggested a disco!

Robots are quite handy things and one of them had a Christmas disco light mode, so we could all have a boogie.

We played plenty of One Direction songs and a whole load of christmas songs and one of my favourites, Igloo Christmas by Elf-vis Presley.

Hope the noise didn't wake you up.

Sleep tight.

Oh dear! Potatoes ahoy!

I got back today from a wonderful Christmas party only to find that William hasn't been a good boy. Well that's not good. Stressing out his mummy and daddy like that at the supermarket. So I'm afraid I'm going to have to give you a potato instead of a present, William. You'll see that I've updated the blackboard with the latest potato scores. Well done Tabby. You're still at 0 potatoes.

Anyway it looks like William is trying to win me over by leaving out another robot for me to play with. This seems to look a bit like an aeroplane, I wonder if it can really fly? I think I'll go and say hello.

Oh no this one isn't so friendly. Help me! What am I going to do?

Phew! He was just protecting the house. Once he saw my Christmas Elf Inspector Warrant card, he helped me down and escorted me back to my elf door.  Still, you can't be friends with everyone.

Looks like my friend from the other day is talking to him and putting in a good word. Maybe we could all get along after all.

See you soon

North Pole Christmas Party

Today I'm heading off to my work's Christmas party at the North Pole with Santa and the other elves. This year we're going to the Snowman's Steakhouse for a slap up meal and lots of party games. Should be fun.

It can't be worse than last years. Santa told us all that we were going to Iceland for our Christmas Party which would have been brilliant, being the country next door to the North Pole! We would have needed passports and everything! However due to a mix up with the aircraft Santa got, the pilot took us to Iceland, THE SUPERMARKET instead! We can laugh now but at the time we were most cross. Still there was plenty of food. Only trouble was that we had to wait 24 hours for it to defrost. It was the longest and hungriest party ever.  You couldn't hear the music above all the tummy rumbling!

I'll be back tomorrow and will be able to tell you the crazy things that happened.
Until then.

Bye!

A slight shock

After my telling off by Santa yesterday I thought I'd better start to take things a bit more seriously. To help me get around more speedily I thought I'd have a look in William's room for something and I found the perfect transport.
What do you think?

Look I can zoom around anywhere. It should prove useful in helping to keep tabs on how good you two are being.

Hang on! Wait a minute. Whats happening to the truck?

Its changed into a big scary robot. Oh no, I'm done for!

Phew its ok he's friendly. I've made a new friend which is great. We spent the evening hanging out and having fun. Here we are chilling out watching a film.

Found some Doritos in the kitchen so we helped ourselves to some. Hope you don't mind. Anyway carry on being good for mummy and daddy and I'll chat soon!

Byesy bye.

What we did last night...

Did you have a nice sleep did you?  A nice restful sleep, with nothing more exciting happening than another visit from the tooth fairy?  Really?  I don't think so...

This is what you did last night...

Ha ha! Well, I told you I liked to play tricks!

Danger, danger, imposter alert...

Tabby and William, I have some troubling news for you.  I was minding my own business, having a little snooze on the Christmas tree when I saw this...

Who is this?

At first I thought that maybe Tabby's wobbly tooth had come out and the tooth fairy was visiting again, so I went to say hello, but she was most snooty and wouldn't talk to me.  Then I asked her firmly to show me her magical practice license, and still she ignored me again, so I can only conclude that this fairy is not a fairy at all. Be careful around her, because I simply don't know what or who she is... To be honest she's probably not that dangerous, as she doesn't really seem to do anything at all, but you can never be too careful!

Other news tonight, I've set up the potato board in the dining room.  Thankfully I haven't had to award potatoes to either of you, as you've both been behaving well.  But if I do need to, this is where you will find out.

I've really missed the lovely letters and drawings that you've been leaving me, you haven't left me a message for a few days, I'd really like to hear from you! Anyway, I've left you both a little treat on the Christmas tree, I hope you find it.

Report Number 1

Hello Tabby and William. Hope you had a lovely day back at school today.
I sneaked into the church this evening and watched Tabby sing in the choir. You were very good Tabby. Well done. William you also sat very nicely in your seat and I could even hear you singing too.

Well, its going to be a busy night for me, because its the end of my first week and you know what that means.
I have to make my first weekly report to Santa. Let's hope he's in a good mood. When he's grumpy you really want to try to keep out of his way. He mutters under his breath and you just can't do anything right. No "Ho Ho Ho"s when he's in this mood, more "Hmph Hmph Hmph". Still, I think he'll be in a good mood this time. You two have been behaving really well so hopefully thats cheered him up.

The cats have even been better too. Poppet hasn't tried to eat me today and I even got to play football with her. Only the ball turned out to be a bauble! Oh no!

Any hoo. Santa's report will decide how many presents get turned into potatoes. Fingers crossed you too.

Look out for the potato scores around the house later in the week. I'll be back tomorrow for some more fun!

So be good and see you soon!

My Very Own Christmas Craft

I noticed today you had a wonderful Christmas craft day with your friends (Your mummy's lovely bunting told me!).

Looked like it was great fun and I have to say that I'm a little bit jealous. Us elves never have fun craft days. As our job is to make stuff all day we do tend to find making things a bit tedious.
Its never really much fun, (except when Santa has too many mince pies, and starts windy popping!) but you looked like you had a great time, so I thought I'd do my own Christmas craft.

What do you think?

I couldn't find anything to make sparkly tinsel for the tree, so got the next best thing.

Its quite funny.

Tee hee.

Anyway, because you were both so good, I've left a little something on the tree for you.

Paper chain letters

Wow! So the first thing I saw tonight when I popped out for a wander was your lovely paper chain. Its really long. I wonder if you've beaten the world record. Hmmm... perhaps William will know.

I won't be able to click these links!

Incidentally I read your letter, William. So glad you know I'm not evil. Elves aren't generally evil but sometimes you get the odd naughty goblin turn up at the North Pole and they're real trouble, I can tell you.
Anyway, you asked why I used magic. Well why not? Elves are naturally magic people, although we do need a lot of training to be able to use it well. If you were magic, you'd use it all the time too, wouldn't you?

I loved your Christmas cards. I'm taking mine and Santa's to the North Pole later so that we can open them on Christmas day! That's the trouble with being a Christmas elf, you don't get many presents. You two have been spoiling me though. Look at all those biscuits.

Now which one shall I eat first?

Hang on. Those ponies are giving me a funny look. Wait, what are they doing? Here come back with my biscuits!  They're not for you!!!

Hey! Those aren't yours!

Oh well. I'm not that hungry. Now they've gone I need to have a word with you both. You've not been too good today have you? You've both managed to upset mummy so I think it might be a potato or two for you. You need to be much better behaved if you want to stay on the Nice list so you need to try harder.

Thats all from me tonight.
See you soon

A house for me?

Well imagine my surprise, when I visited tonight to see that you had made an elf sized house for me!
It looks really lovely, perhaps too lovely - I'm not sure whether to live in it or eat it!

I hope there's no witches in here

I think Mummy might be really cross if she saw I'd eaten her house, but look what I found instead - a big bag of fluffy snow (and some fluffy pink snow too, that must be a British thing, we don't have pink snow at the North Pole!).

Snow joke! This is tasty.

Oh this isn't snow - its rather yummy though! I wonder if I can eat them all?

Pink and white is good. Yellow snow is not good!

Now on to business - who has been good, and who has not?  Who has a tidy bedroom?  And are the cats still getting potatoes? Well, to be honest, Tabby and William have both been pretty good and the cats annoying again. I'm sure they think I'm something they can play with.

So at the very top of the nice list - ME!!!! I'm the best!

Ha ha.
See you soon

Presents or potatoes?

Well another busy day for me today, I've been trying to work out how best to get around in your house.  William explained the cats to me and told me their names in his note yesterday, so I spent all day calling them and trying to train them, but they just wouldn't listen.  Posy just ignored me, but Poppet kept pouncing on me, and tried to run off with me in her mouth.  I think I've found a new way to get around though, what do you think?

Giddy up!

Thank you so much for leaving food and drink, a chair and television (with remote control) and the lovely clay decorations out for me.  I had a lovely snooze on the bed after I'd had my snack. Dobbin really loved the apple pieces you left out for him!

Chillin' with the girls
Crunch Crunch! Yum!

Once I woke up, I had time to write my naughty and nice list.  I will be updating this from time to time with who has been naughty and who has been nice, so you'd better make sure you stay on your best behaviour!

(Of course you do know that Santa Claus doesn't actually bring presents for cats, that's up to you to do.  I used to think it was because he was busy enough delivering presents to all the children, but now I know that its because cats are Not Very Nice, and Don't Deserve Presents!)

Anyway, as a thank you for all the lovely things you left out for me and Dobbin, I've hung a little treat on the Christmas tree for each of you,

Sparkling snowballs,

Gingerbread Glitter-Toes
xxx

P.S Tabby, thank you so much for your letter.  I will try my best to come to your carol service on Monday, but its very hard work hiding from all those children, because you know that Visting Elf Inspectors are not allowed to be seen by humans for elf and safety reasons

Lots to read, prickly hiccups and chaos at the North Pole!

Well, how about that? You do believe, William! Thank you for the note I found hanging from the tree. Hopefully you will be getting a sack of presents and not a sack of potatoes after all.  But do remember that you need to keep on your best behaviour still, I thought I saw you being mean to Tabby earlier today. Lets hope that wasn't the case.

Its a short message from me today as there's been a crisis back at the North Pole. The elves had their christmas party today and Tommy Tinsel-Nose had far too much hollyberry juice which gave him prickly hiccups. I guess you will have had the hiccups before but these are far worse. Every time you do a prickly hiccup it knocks you right over. Apparently Tommy Tinsel-Nose hiccupped causing all the presents to fly all over the workshop. It made poor Belinda Bauble-Belly jump so high with fright that she accidentally knocked the switches on the toy making machine so that they started putting dolls dresses on the tractors and wheels on the Action Men. So now I have to dash back and help sort the mess out.

Still, I did have time to read your notes and the lovely sweeties will give me something to munch on the way back (even using magic doors to travel takes a bit of time). I thought I'd try and answer some of the questions in your letters.

Gosh, what a lot of reading to do!

Yummy sweeties, all for meeeeeee!

Tabby, I did enjoy the food and juice you left me last night. It was yummy and I loved putting my feet up and watching the TV. I didn't get a chance to sleep on the bed I was far too busy but it looked very comfy. And I love my ears although they do get a big chilly in the cold air which is why I tuck them in my hat!

William, your note was lovely and I'm so glad you do believe. I do use magic fairly often but it can be quite complicated so you have to go to magic school to learn. Thanks for the information about the cats. We don't have them in the North Pole so they were a bit of mystery. At least I know their names now so I hope to get to know them a bit better over the next couple of weeks. As to why I have a website, well you two are always on the laptop so it I thought it was the best way to leave you messages, plus everyone has a website these days! Even Rudolph has a twitter account.

Anyway got to dash.

Magic wishes

Gingerbread Glitter-Toes.
